Separating scrap Cathode Ray Tubes into the different
Grades & Specifications
will allow you to yield the best
value
for your scrap materials.
Cathode Ray Tubes
The cathode-ray tube (CRT) is a vacuum tube that contains one or more electron guns and a phosphorescent screen
and is used to display images. It modulates, accelerates, and deflects electron beam(s)
onto the screen to create the images. For a period of time CRT's were commonly used in televisions and computer monitors.
Cathode Ray Tubes may be recycled by crushing or pulverizing the
lead coated CRT glass to produce a feedstock for
lead
smelters.
The recovered material is equivalent to high grade lead ore and the glass content is a
natural fluxing agent in the refining process.
Due to the presence of lead located in the funnel glass, CRTs marked for disposal are considered hazardous waste under
the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). However, CRT glass and used CRTs
that are recycled or exported for recycling are not considered solid or hazardous waste
under RCRA if certain conditions are met.
LCD Recycling
Liquid Crystal Displays are sourced from LCD flat screen monitors,
LCD screens
from smart phones, laptops, tablets, watches and electronic device displays.
Liquid Crystal Displays may contain several combinations of materials but typically contain glass with indium coatings.
If you wish to recycle
indium
content materials, please feel free to ADD your inquiry to the
Scrap Indium
exchange.

LED Recycling
Recycling light emitting diodes or
LEDs
is primarily focused on the recovery of gallium and
Cerium.
High efficiency circuits and light emitting diodes typically contain gallium materials.
If you wish to recycle
Gallium
content materials, please feel free to ADD your inquiry to the
Scrap Gallium
exchange.
