Benzene Recovery

Benzene (C6H6)
Benzene occurs naturally in crude oil and natural gas and is generated from volcanoes and forest fires as a byproduct of combustion. Benzene is a known human carcinogen and emissions should be reduced or removed from the open environment at every opportunity.

Benzene is classed as an aromatic hydrocarbon which includes BTX isomers such as benzene (C6H6), toluene (C7H8), and xylene (C8H10).

Benzene is widely used as a solvent and is consumed in the production of dyes, paint, adhesives, detergents, explosives, lubricants, pharmaceuticals, and pesticides. Benzene is an integral component in rubbers, plastics, resins, nylon and synthetic fibers.

Benzene Emissions
Benzene emissions are generated as a by-product of the combustion of tobacco in cigarettes, burning coal, oil, gas and from motor vehicle exhaust.

Industrial sources of Benzene emissions from general process byproducts, Glycol Dehydrators and benzol which is produced during carbonization of coking coal. Benzene Vapour Recovery Systems have been traditionally used to capture and reduce emissions.
Benzene is a product of the pyrolysis process, and is found in systems utilized for recovering rubber tires and waste plastics.

Efforts to reduce toxicity in the environment by neutralizing harmful emissions and substances like Benzene and aromatic Hydrocarbons are an important step to achieve Sustainable environmental equilibrium.
